About Connecticut Foodshare:
Connecticut Foodshare is the food bank serving the people of Connecticut and a member of the national Feeding America network. In Connecticut, more than 516,000 individuals, or 1 in 7 people in our state, are experiencing food insecurity. This includes over 122,000 children who are unsure where their next meal will come from.
Connecticut Foodshare is committed to providing healthy, nutritious food for our neighbors and working on long-term solutions to food insecurity. We provided over 45 million meals last year through a network of more than 600 community-based hunger relief programs and mobile food pantries. More than 6,000 volunteers help power the work of Connecticut Foodshare. Last year, volunteers donated 48,000+ hours of service.
Meet Your Neighbor:
Meet Olivia, mom to Francisco. This family has been coming to the Connecticut Foodshare mobile food pantry in Norwalk since 2024. Olivia’s working, but her part-time hours aren’t enough to make ends meet.
“I have a struggle with income…I pay rent. I have to pay gas, electricity. I don’t have a car because it’s too expensive for me to pay every month, I walk places always.”
She visits the mobile pantry for the free, healthy food her family needs.
“I make guacamole. I make bread for the baby. I like the food. It is good food.”
Connecticut Foodshare mobile pantries serve over 25,000 households on average each month. We provide food and hope to guests like Olivia.
“I feel welcome here. I know almost everybody here, they’re like close friends.”
You Can Help Your Neighbors:
Together, we can create a thriving community where no one goes hungry. For every $10 you give, we can provide up to 20 meals. Every donation or hour of volunteer service you give means more neighbors have access to the healthy meals they need.
