The Children’s Law Center offers three ongoing programs to serve the needs of children:
1. Legal Representation Program – We represented 674 children in 2025! This program provides court-appointed legal counsel to low-income children whose parents are embroiled in high conflict family court disputes involving custody, divorce and visitation. What sets our program apart is that CLC incorporates a mental health component. We offer an approach to family court that is non-adversarial and focuses on resolutions that are child-focused. We work with parents to strengthen their communication and co-parenting skills, emphasizing the unique role each plays in the lives of their children.
2. Children’s Law Line – We answered 778 calls involving 1140 children in 2025! Law Line is a free telephone help line (1-888-LAW-DOOR) that answers legal questions and gives information and referrals to people seeking information regarding legal issues affecting children.
3. Families in Transition (FIT) – We mediated 50 cases impacting 80 children in 2025! Families in Transition provides family mediation and parenting education services on a sliding-fee scale to low and middle-income families as an alternative to costly, time consuming and often harmful litigation.
