Since December of 2017 our family has been personally affected by lung cancer. With a family history of heart disease, Angela took pride in focusing on her health and wellness- running a half marathon and working out everyday. She also was never a smoker. Her diagnosis was a surprise to everyone, especially because she was not screened for lung cancer, but instead was being proactive due to family history and went to a cardiologist to receive a cardiac calcium scoring. In addition, as many lung cancer patients experience, she had no symptoms or warning signs.
Due to the cancer being at such an advanced stage, Angela received treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. Her 3-year battle consisted of simultaneous radiation and chemotherapy treatments to her lungs, stereotactic brain radiation, brain surgery, immunotherapy, and many other treatments- but not once did she waiver in strength, courage, and grace. She impressed every person she came across with her positive attitude and never took any of her days for granted. Those 3 years were surrounded by the most amazing village of family and friends, consisted of family vacations, Rhode Island beach trips, and snuggles with her beloved dog.
