19% of adults living in Hartford County read at or below a second grade level. They come from 50+ countries, including our own. Each year, we welcome over 600 low literate adults who participate in small group classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and Basic Literacy (for native English speakers). They also take classes in Pre-Ged, Citizenship test prep, digital literacy and more.
As students improve their skills, our Career Pathways team provides 1:1 assistance in the job search process. We also offer certification test prep courses to help students advance their careers in the culinary, guest services and construction industries.
With each student's success, our entire Greater Hartford community grows in strength and resilience!
